Evoto 8.0 also brings portrait retouching inside DaVinci Resolve, story-based culling, reusable workflows and an SDK

NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Evoto announced Evoto 8.0 at its annual launch event, opening a marketplace where photographers can publish and sell presets and creative assets they build — backed by a $500,000 reward pool. The release spans their product family—Evoto Desktop, the Evoto App, and Evoto Video—and introduces a new Asset Hub, portrait retouching directly inside DaVinci Resolve, story-based culling for high-volume shoots, reusable workflow templates, and an SDK for production teams.

More than 1.2 billion photographs have now been processed through Evoto. The company supports 1.2 million professional photographers and 60,000 studios¹, and has expanded from 158 countries at its 2025 launch to more than 200 countries and regions in twelve months².

Evoto Video: portrait retouching that stays inside the edit
The most significant new capability in 8.0 extends portrait retouching into moving footage. Unlike a single image, a video clip is hundreds of individual frames. A 30-second clip could contain more than 700 separate frames. Retouching a face consistently, as the person moves and the light shifts, becomes possible with Evoto Video.

In-Workflow Retouching Plugin. Evoto’s core portrait retouching now runs directly inside DaVinci Resolve³, allowing editors to refine faces and skin on a clip without leaving the timeline or exporting to another application.

Evoto Video also adds Hair Shine, which tracks along the strands as the head moves; conservative teeth whitening that reduces yellow without removing ivory; and Facial Fullness, which restores volume flattened by lens or lighting and follows the face as it turns.

Color Match works across clips too: set a still image as the reference, match one clip, then apply that direction to the rest in a single click — bringing footage shot on different cameras, locations and times to a consistent look.

Story-Based Culling: organizing a shoot before editing it
A wedding photographer finishes a fourteen-hour day with roughly four thousand frames in the order they were captured — the order photographers have always had to start from.

Storyline Mode organizes a set into the chapters a photographer chooses; frames that don’t clearly belong are left unassigned rather than forced into the wrong place. General Mode groups visually similar images by subject, setup or scene — even when captured hours apart — for list-based work such as school photography, product shoots, real estate and events.

Evoto surfaces the strongest frames within each chapter; the photographer makes the final picks. Segment structure carries through to delivery, so clients receive a gallery that follows the narrative of the day rather than an unsorted folder.

Workflow, SDK integration, and production at scale
For studios running the same job repeatedly — school portraits, monthly headshot days, a recurring product shoot — Workflow saves a production path from import through delivery for reuse. What carries over is the process, not the creative decisions.

SDK. For larger production teams, Evoto’s SDK connects directly to the Evoto desktop app⁴, allowing teams to script recurring steps such as importing, applying presets and exporting.

Precision refinement on desktop
Evoto Desktop 8.0’s retouching updates focus on corrections that preserve texture and identity:

• Precision Freckles & Acne Retouching — targets blemishes while leaving freckles, moles and scars untouched
• Face Shadow Removal — reduces distracting shadow while preserving facial structure and skin tone
• Clothing Moiré Removal — removes moiré on fine fabrics while preserving weave and folds
• Liquify Background Repair — restores background lines distorted by subject reshaping
• Sweat Stain Removal — clears marks while preserving fabric texture
• Generative Expand — extends the frame for reformatting without inventing new subject matter

The release also improves Background Extraction and adds orientation-aware AI Crop. Across these tools, Evoto reads the image in context — subject, light, color and environment — before adjusting, so every correction stays true to the original photograph.

A redesigned Home screen brings Create Project, Tethered Shooting, Workflow and Asset Hub into one launch surface, and Evobot, Evoto’s in-app assistant, answers questions in natural language and links to the relevant control.

Evoto App: from tethered capture to delivery
The Evoto App adds tethered capture directly to mobile, so frames land on the phone as they’re shot — letting photographers review in real time and show a client a finished-looking frame on set. The Evoto App also gains Hot Presets, portrait retouching, Color Match, full color controls, Motion Blur and Relight⁵.

Asset Hub: a marketplace built into the editor
Evoto 8.0 introduces Asset Hub, a marketplace built into the editor that brings official and creator-made presets, AI Looks, AI background fusions, backdrops and skies into one place. It launches with more than 400 official assets⁶, professionally curated, with the library continuing to grow. Any asset can be applied to the photographer’s own image before it is bought — the hub minimizes, the edit continues, and permission is checked only at export⁷.

Masters’ Signature Presets bring collections built by working photographers out of delivered client work. A look that performs on a single frame is straightforward; one that holds across a full gallery, through changing light and locations, is a different matter.

Membership campaign. From September 22 through December 31, customers purchasing an eligible Evoto Desktop plan or Cloud Storage package receive three months of complimentary access to Evoto Official Assets⁸. Full eligibility and campaign terms are published at evoto.ai.

The Creator Program: $500,000 into the community
Asset Hub is also open to photographers publishing and selling their own work. For most working photographers, income is a direct function of hours worked — a look developed over years of client work can now generate revenue from jobs the creator will never personally take.

“A photographer’s style might be the reason clients book them,” Peterson said, “this gives that same style a second way to generate income.”

Creators keep 60% of net sales, with no listing fee⁹. They retain ownership of their assets and may sell the same work non-exclusively on other platforms.

How it works. Photographers apply through Become a Creator on the Asset Hub home page, submitting a portfolio and creative background; review is typically completed within seven business days. Approved creators upload assets through Creator Dashboard, add effect examples, set a price and submit for platform review. Earnings enter a monthly payout process, with the first payouts beginning in October¹⁰.

Pricing and scope. Creators set their own prices within published bands: $8 to $30 for presets, $49 to $199 for AI Looks, and $2 to $8 for backdrops and skies. Presets, AI Looks, backdrops and skies are open to creator submission at launch; AI Background Fusion is not yet supported. Creators may submit only original work they legally own¹¹.

Evoto is backing the program with a $500,000 Creator Reward Pool. Photographers who join between September 22 and December 31, 2026 receive $50 once their first asset gets approved and goes live, and the top 20 creators by total sales during the campaign each receive an additional $100.
