Play with Purpose: AFUWI Golf & Games Returns to Brooklyn Sept. 25, Expanding Access for Caribbean Students

AFUWI’s Golf & Games brings supporters together in Brooklyn, widening the path to higher education for Caribbean students through scholarship support.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, September 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The American Foundation for The University of the West Indies (AFUWI) will host its 2026 Golf & Games Invitational on Friday, September 25, at Brooklyn’s Marine Park Golf Course, bringing together golfers, supporters and friends for an afternoon of friendly competition, community and purpose.

The event will begin at noon with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start and continue through 8:00 p.m. Golfers may participate individually or in foursomes, while non-golf participants are invited to join an afternoon and evening of board games, dominoes, mini-golf, food, entertainment, prizes, and fellowship.

Golf & Games reflects a distinctly Caribbean-American reality: the enduring bond between the region and its diaspora. Generations of Caribbean nationals have built lives and careers across the United States while remaining deeply invested in the future of the islands they call home. Funds raised at Golf & Games support the scholarship program for needy students at The University of the West Indies (UWI), widening access and narrowing the gap between talent and opportunity, so that ability, not financial circumstances, determines a student’s future.

“Golf & Games gives us an opportunity to bring people together in a relaxed, engaging setting while staying focused on why we gather — creating opportunities for students,” said Ann-Marie Grant, Executive Director of AFUWI. “Every golfer, sponsor, and participant who joins us helps strengthen our ability to educate deserving young people throughout the Caribbean and to contribute to nation-building.”

The Games component extends the afternoon beyond the golf course, inviting non-golfers to play dominoes, chess, checkers, Ludo, and other games while enjoying networking, music, and Caribbean fellowship. AFUWI designed the event as an inclusive gathering where longtime supporters and new friends can connect and support the Foundation’s mission.

The 2026 AFUWI Golf & Games Invitational will take place Friday, September 25, from noon to 8:00 p.m. at Marine Park Golf Course, 2880 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11234.

Individual golf registration is $225, foursomes are $900, and non-golf participation in the reception and Games program is $50 per person.
